Former President Donald Trump recently announced that he will be conducting his own live fact-check and play-by-play commentary during President Biden’s State of the Union address.

Trump took to Truth Social to inform his followers of his plans. He stated, “I am pleased to inform you that tomorrow night we will be doing a LIVE, Play by Play, of Crooked Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address. I will correct, in rapid response, any and all inaccurate statements, especially pertaining to the border and his weaponization of the DOJ, FBI, A.G.s, and District Attorneys, to go after his political opponent, ME (something never done before in this Country!). We did this once before to tremendous success – Beating All Records. It is important for the Country to get the TRUTH!”
However, it is highly unlikely that Trump will have the opportunity to provide live commentary during the State of the Union address. Due to the scrutiny faced by conservative networks like Fox News in the aftermath of the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit, such platforms are now more cautious in their interactions with the former president.
Trump’s live play-by-play commentary is expected to be hosted on Truth Social, a platform likely to be overseen by his campaign team and featuring sporadic posts from Trump himself. The unconventional setup for this event has the potential to either be a disaster or a source of comedic entertainment.
Potential Challenges and Irony
There is a semblance of irony in Trump’s plan, considering that he has struggled to accurately identify the current president on numerous occasions. Therefore, the idea of him fact-checking Joe Biden or even Barack Obama appears to be founded on unrealistic expectations.
While President Biden is gearing up to address issues concerning the well-being of the American public—such as reducing costs and enhancing healthcare—Trump seems more focused on defending himself against legal charges and evading potential imprisonment.
As President Biden emphasizes the strength and unity of the nation in his upcoming State of the Union address, Donald Trump’s stance continues to reflect a sense of vulnerability and opposition.
