Skip Bayless’ Decline Since Shannon Sharpe’s Departure

Since the departure of NFL Hall of Famer and current ESPN “First Take” analyst, Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless’ show “Undisputed” has hit a dry spell. The new crew of former NFL stars, rappers, and media personalities has not been able to capture the nation’s attention like Skip & Shannon did for many years. It is time for FOX Sports and FS1 to make some changes and bring Bayless back to his former glory.

Current Situation

Bayless’ show has been struggling, with ratings hitting a new low last week. The show attracted an average of just 50,000 viewers, lower than a re-air of ESPN’s “Get Up” on ESPN 2 the same day. As ratings continue to decline, FS1 needs to make some serious changes to their programming.

When Sharpe was part of “Undisputed”, despite the rift, the show was still popular among fans. However, since Sharpe’s departure, Bayless has fallen from grace. It is clear that Sharpe was the driving force behind the success of the partnership.

Bayless’ Controversies and Dislike Amongst Fans

Bayless has faced controversies throughout his career, most notably his comments following Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field last year. These comments angered NFL players and analysts, including Sharpe. Bayless’ disrespect towards athletes, including Sharpe, has made him a disliked figure in the sports media world.

There were reports that FOX executives were unhappy with Bayless’ decision to create a rotating ensemble cast to replace Sharpe. Bayless’ attempt to emulate Stephen A. Smith’s “First Take” format has not been successful. It is time for FOX Sports to make significant changes to their programming.

Despite being the top personality for years, Bayless’ time at the top has come to an end. It is clear that changes need to be made, and Bayless should no longer have control over such a prime viewing slot with little return. His unpopularity amongst fans and colleagues is evident, and it is time for FOX Sports to make a change.
